The town of Davidson is situated along the eastern shore of beautiful Lake Norman, in both Iredell and Mecklenburg Counties, North Carolina. Just 23 miles north of Charlotte, the town developed around the campus of Davidson College, which was established in 1837 by the Concord Presbytery and named in honor of Brigadier General William Lee Davidson, a local Revolutionary War commander. In the 1950’s and 60’s, Lake Norman was created as part of the construction of Cowers Ford Dam; since then, the “inland sea” has attracted many new residents and visitors to the region, boosting Davidson’s growth and prosperity.

Today Davidson remains a small, but vibrant community of just over 9,000 residents who enjoy a high quality of life that is hard to come by in a large metropolitan area. Throughout the years, Davidson has resisted over-commercialization and development, ensuring that the town stays rich with historic Southern charm, natural beauty, and pedestrian-friendly streets.
