Statistics and national press coverage continues to point to Union County’s rapidly growing populations but also to the great “quality of life” found throughout the county. US Census Bureau figures released in September of 2009 confirm that Union County is the nations’ thirteenth fastest growing county with an estimated increase. But perhaps even more impressive than growth is the outstanding quality of life. Family Circle Magazine, a widely read magazine throughout the United States, has announced the results of a survey done this past year. Indian Trail, one of the fast growing municipalities of Union County, was named in the survey as one of “the top ten best towns and cites across the country for families”. This top ten list included places that “Combine affordable housing, good neighbors, green spaces and A+ public school system.” The August 2009 issue of Family Living gives further details about why the area was chosen. Interim Town Manager Peggy Piontek summed up the pride of the town when she said, “It is no secret locally that Indian Trail has always been thought of as a family-friendly town. This honor of being named in the top ten best towns for families now confirms it nationally.”
