Welcome to Stratham, NH

Located at a crossroads between Routes 101 at Exeter and I-95 at Portsmouth, Stratham has a harmonious blend of historical elements and modern amenities. Truly New England in its roots, you will find Native American and British names attached to the rivers, and roads. The town itself was named after the British Baron Howland of Streatham and incorporated in 1716. Stratham’s rural past is still evident with a few remaining large farms and several historic farmhouses. Fresh berries, flowers, corn, hay, pumpkins, apples and many vegetables are grown right here in town.

Conveniently, Stratham has a large commercial district along Route 108 where there are several grocery stores, clothing stores, pharmacies and auto services with upscale brands like Porsche and BMW. Talbots clothing is here and a variety of area restaurants and shops. Larger businesses include Timberland Clothing and Lindt Spungli, the famous chocolatier. Nearby Exeter and Portsmouth Hospitals provide quality healthcare to the area residents and there are several options for fitness, recreation and education.

Stratham, NH is part of the six-town Exeter School District with its own elementary school. It is home to the Cooperative Middle School. The towns borders Exeter and North Hampton, and along the shores of magnificent Great Bay, shares borders with Newfields and Greenland. You can launch a boat from several locations and head out to the ocean or just explore the quiet marshes along the tidal Squamscott River.

The rich quality of life attracts people to living here. Home sales have been level with as many sales as active listings in this challenging market. For 2009 the median home value was roughly $350,000. The population is just over 7000 with a median age of 38. The proximity to the ocean, Portsmouth Harbor, Boston, Interstate I-95, Route 101 and two major airports, makes Stratham extremely convenient to the needs of its many residents.
