The Town of Hopkinton, New Hampshire

The Town of Hopkinton is nestled in Merrimack County combining a well preserved history and natural beauty but with only a short commute to Boston. Hopkinton was once the state capital but lost the coveted position in 1808 to the City of Concord. The Town is made up of three distinct entities: West Hopkinton, primarily the town’s agricultural center; Contoocook Village, the town’s business hub; and Hopkinton, mainly the residential area. All three entities share the same school system and zip code.

The easy access to and from Hopkinton makes it the perfect location to live and work. The last census has a population of 5,595, with a total area of 45.1 square miles. The town has both the Contoocook and Warner Rivers running through it, as well as several brooks and lakes. According to statistics gathered in 2007, the estimated per capita income was $38,000 and the estimated median house value for Hopkinton was $314,000.

Hopkinton is also central to many Colleges/Universities with a total student population of 2000 and over: New Hampshire College, Manchester; Keene State University, Keene; University of New Hampshire-Main campus, Durham; Plymouth State College, Plymouth; Fitchburg State College, Fitchburg, MA; and the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.
