Welcome to Mercer County, NJ

Mercer County is located on the banks of the Delaware River, nearly equidistant from New York and Philadelphia. Its population of 350,000 is divided among a number of municipalities that comprise the county’s 229 miles. Mercer County is perhaps best known as the home of several important educational facilities, including Princeton University, The College of New Jersey, Rider University, and the Princeton Theological Seminary. The county is also considered part of the Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District, one of the state’s best. This accounts for the many families that relocate to Mercer County each year.

Trenton, which has a population of 83,000, is not only the county seat but also New Jersey’s capital. Thus, Mercer is often referred to as the “Capital County.” Since the 1980s, Trenton has experienced a significant renaissance, thanks in large part to the Trenton Tunnel Project, which converted a major thoroughfare into a tunnel topped with a 6.5-acre waterfront green space known as South Riverwalk Park. Like the county, the city is also known for its schools; seven charter schools call Trenton home, as does the Trenton Community Music School, which offers a non-profit arts program.

In short, Mercer offers a high quality of life combined with all the amenities you’d expect from one of the nation’s wealthiest counties. This makes Mercer County a great place to consider when relocating.
