One of the largest cities in New Jersey, Clifton still retains a suburban feel on many of its tree-lined streets. Neighboring the upscale community of Montclair on its southern border, it also offers residents the convenience of access New York City via two major NJ highways, a newly-built high-end mall and a large multiplex cinema surrounded by a variety of national chain stores. Clifton is home to the Upper Montclair Golf Club where national, televised golf tournaments are frequently held. The city boasts a garden club, an arts center, a historic district (Botany Village), and a wide variety of sports programs for young children through adults, such as soccer, lacrosse, tee ball, baseball, football, cheerleading and wrestling. It is also home to one of the largest and well-regarded Jewish Community Centers in the state.
