Caldwell and West Caldwell, NJ two towns that were settled in the early 18th century by pioneers who moved westward from Newark, share a school system, but each town has its own municipal government. James Caldwell High School is one of the highest ranked in the state of New Jersey. Both towns offer a quick commute to New York City and their own vibrant downtown centers filled with restaurants, shops and a wide variety of service establishments.

Recreation facilities in Caldwell and West Caldwell are first rate. Along with township swimming pools, both towns’ community centers offer programs for toddlers, teens, adults and senior citizens ranging from dance lessons, yoga classes, and sports activities (including tennis courts, soccer fields and an ice skating rink) to canteen socials, and concerts in the parks.
