The borough of Rumson, NJ is located on a peninsula that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. It is bordered on two sides by two rivers, the Navesink and the Shrewsbury.

There are many old historic homes in Rumson with the oldest dating back to 1670. It was settled in 1633 but officially incorporated as a Borough in 1907. Rumson is one of the wealthiest communities in New Jersey with household incomes well above the National average. Home prices range from a low of $350,000 for a modest two bedroom bungalow to several million dollars for an estate overlooking the river. Rumson is a short distance by commuter ferry to lower Manhattan and New York City and its attractions, making it a desirable bedroom community for Wall Street commuters and artists and TV personalities. It is one tenth of a mile from Red Bank, one of New Jersey's "hippest" towns with a variety of upscale shops and businesses.

There are three small business districts in Rumson's 5 square miles and is very close to the barrier beach of Sea Bright New Jersey. Thoroughbred horseracing can be found at nearby Monmouth Park, one of the most bucolic race tracks in the country. Seasonal racing is available throughout the summer. The Sea Bright Lawn Tennis and Cricket Club, located in Rumson, is a designated National Historic Landmark. It is thought to be the oldest Lawn Tennis facility in the United States.

Rumson has public parks where you can play tennis, launch a Kayak onto the river, and picnic. Rumson has its own police force, library and strong volunteer fire and first aid companies. It is convenient to all modes of transportation: ferry, train and bus as well as being forty five minutes from Liberty International Airport making it an ideal community for commuting into New York City and Northern New Jersey.
