Come Check out Carson City, Nevada

Come Check out Carson City, the capital of Nevada. Founded in 1858 by Abraham Curry, a pioneer, it was named from the nearby Carson River that gets its name from frontiersman Kit Carson. Even though the population is approaching 60,000, Carson City has held on to its “home town” feeling.

Being centrally located where Hwy 50 and Hwy 395 meet, “Carson” has access to numerous Recreational Opportunities. There are 9 area golf courses to tee off on. Lake Tahoe is only a 30 minute drive, where you can enjoy the beauty of the lake out on a boat in the summer or hit the slopes on any of the many world-class ski resorts in the winter. Nevada’s alpine lakes and fresh-water streams provide for excellent fishing opportunities as well as areas for camping, hiking, boating and mountain biking.

Carson City has a diversified range of homes. There are single-family homes, multi-family units and manufactured homes. Prices range from $42,000 for a condo all the way up to $3,495,000 for a gorgeous higher end home on 5 acres.

Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center opened its current “State of the Art” facility in December 2005. Currently the staff includes over 240 board-certified physicians covering more than 35 medical specialties.

Carson City Parks and Recreation includes programs year-round for all age groups, pre-school to seniors. There are over 600 acres of parkland within the city. An aquatic center with indoor and outdoor pools, tennis and handball courts, soccer, baseball and softball fields, an equestrian arena, a community center with gymnasium, rifle, pistol and archery ranges are just a few of the services.

Carson City currently has 10 elementary school (5 of which are private schools), 2 middle schools and 1 high school. Western Nevada College is a comprehensive community college that serves more than 6,000 students each semester. WNC is accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and of Colleges and Universities.

For History buffs, Carson City and the surrounding area is rich in history. Nevada is nicknamed the “Battle Born” state because of its quick statehood during The Civil War, for its riches from the Comstock Lode. Virginia City, which is only a 30 minute drive from Carson City, was the center of it all. Fort Churchill, once an active U.S. Army fort was built in 1861 to provide protection for settlers. It is located about 1- 1 ½ hours drive southeast of Carson City.

Carson City with its Parks, Arts and Culture, Historical Attractions, Sports, Events, Outdoor Recreation, Casinos, Shopping and Restaurants is definitely worth a look. Come check us out!
