Buffalo, a Vintage City, With Youthful Dreams

Buffalo's history is a rich tapestry spanning more than 200 years. The French discovered Buffalo along the Niagara River and named it Beautiful River, pronounced "Beau Fleuve" in French. That French pronunciation in turn became Buffalo.

Buffalo survived the War of 1812 after the British burned the city to the ground. The city was born again with the courage and stamina that reflects the spirits of Buffalo. The Industrial Revolution brought prosperity and it became the first city to use electricity. Buffalo was graciously crowned with the title City of Lights.

The 20th Century brought tremendous prosperity as the manufacturing industry boomed. Buffalo situated on the Great Lakes became a prominent shipping port and Buffalo became the Queen City of the Great Lakes along the St. Lawrence Seaway. With the onset of World War II the steel industry became prominent employing thousands making Buffalo one of the richest cities in the country.

Buffalo is definitely a jewel of a city with its extensive ethnic diversity offering festivals all year long celebrating the culture and traditions its melting pot of people. Buffalo's beauty shines though its abundant cultural and artistic venues with numerous theaters, the World renowned Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, its many art galleries especially the spectacular Albright-Know Art Gallery.

In 2007 the Elmood Village in the heart of Buffalo was named as one of the Top 10 Villages in the country. The Elmwood Village appeals to people who love the urban setting offering amenities with walking distance. Currently Buffalo is revitalizing and remerging as a Renaissance City. The future never looked brighter with the impact of the Buffalo/Niagara Medical Corridor in Downtown Buffalo encompassing the prominence of Hauptman and Woodward, Cleveland Bio Labs, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, and the Bioinformatics Center for Excellence.

The development of the waterfront property along Lake Erie in Downtown Buffalo brings professionals who desire the ambiance of living on the waterfront. The completion of the Outer Harbor will be a boost to economic growth connecting people in the city as well as the suburbs to enjoy our perfect summers on the water.

The backdrop for Buffalo is the seventh Wonder of the World, Niagara Falls along with its proximity to Toronto, Canada which makes the Buffalo/Niagara region an international tourist attraction.
