The vision of the Manhattan skyline is one that comes to mind most often when thinking about New York. Manhattan refers to the Island of Manhattan, and also to the Borough of Manhattan, which is one of the five boroughs of New York City.
Manhattan is the most densely populated county in the United States, with over 1.6 million people calling the 13 x 2.3 mile island home. Although the pace of life in Manhattan coined the phrase, “a New York Minute,” New Yorkers still find time to enjoy everything the city has to offer.
A different neighborhood exists for almost every industry or culture. The Flower District, Little Italy, Silicon Alley and Chinatown to name a few. Other neighborhoods owe their namesake to their location, like SoHo (South of Houston) and TriBeCa (Triangle Below Canal).
Manhattan's parks, theaters, business centers and nightlife hold something for everyone, and be assured that something to do is available here at almost any hour of the day.
