The hamlet of Sanborn has a population of around 6,000 people, and its residents enjoy a wide variety of attractions in their historic and culturally rich community. The region is home to an abundance of heritage sites and historic museums, such as Old Fort Niagara and the famous home of Amos Tryon—one of the last stops on the Underground Railroad. The nearby Niagara University provides the public with art and theatre through the Castellani Art Museum and Niagara University Theatre. Also within Lewiston are the Artpark Theatre and the Stella Niagara Theatre. Niagara County offers casual and fine dining, as well as the Niagara County Wine Trail, featuring twelve outstanding wineries such as Eveningside Vineyards, Warm Lake Estate, and Niagara Landing Wine Cellars. The region takes part in many year-round art, music, and garden festivals, as well as golf and soccer tournaments. Niagara County’s beautiful natural setting draws many residents and visitors into the great outdoors, with ample opportunities for camping, hiking, bicycling and more at five nearby state parks. Also, the Niagara area is well known around the world for its freshwater fish, including trophy trout and salmon to world class smallmouth bass, walleye and muskellunge. From historic home tours and antique shopping to wine tasting and outdoor recreation, Sanborn and Niagara County has something for everyone.
