About Syracuse, NY

Syracuse is often called “The Heart of New York”. Syracuse has a distinctive atmosphere and a special climate that makes this place interesting, civilized and livable. A place where you know you can find what you need.

The French Explorers of the 1600’s recognized the importance of the region. The Iroquois saw the advantages long before that. The “Salt City” made Syracuse’s economy diverse and shaped the City’s future.

What makes living in Greater Syracuse so satisfying? It begins with the four season climate and the fact that it was a port on the great Erie Canal.

Some will say it’s the City’s mix of new and old architecture, vast parks and the many artistic public spaces that give it style and class. Others will point to its diverse and eclectic mix of neighborhoods and a feeling of belonging. Outdoorsmen will focus on the many golf courses, rolling hills and huge supply of fresh water used for both drinking and all types of activities. Add in all the colorful festivals unique museums, shops and top-notch restaurants and it’s easy to call Syracuse home the four-season climate has spawned a variety of lifestyles and gives the community its strength. Syracuse temperatures range from an average of 24 degrees in January to 71 degrees in July pleasing skiers and hikers alike. When summer heats up, fishermen are lured to the many trout streams and local lakes and rivers.

All these features have rekindled enthusiasm in the city. Its strong educational base, Regional Market, the Carousel Center, the many health centers and the abundance of fresh water supplies have Syracuse moving forward through the 21st Century way beyond - truly making it the heart of New York.

The Syracuse Housing Market continues to buck the National trends. Money Magazine recently ranked Syracuse as one of the top 10 places to own real estate in the nation. Syracuse is consistently ranked ahead of every other city in upstate New York for places to live and productive future growth. Contrary to national trends, the median price of a house in Syracuse continues to rise giving them 8 straight years of appreciation.
