Welcome to White Plains, NY

The commercial boom of the 20th century greatly contributed to White Plains’ 21st century reputation as a “mini New York City.” White Plains boasts its own towering skyline, complete with high-rise office buildings and residential areas. In recent decades, downtown White Plains has gone through a renaissance of sorts, with the addition of luxury apartment and condominium towers, massive shopping areas, eclectic restaurants, theaters, performance art venues, and cultural centers such as the Arts Exchange Building. Despite this bustling urban center that draws in nearly 150,000 workers per day, White Plains is still known as a clean, green suburb with the nickname “The City in the Park.” Once you leave the 15-block downtown area, you will step into peaceful suburban neighborhoods full of trees, lush lawns, and parks. White Plains has worked hard to retain at least 20% of its land as open space in and around the city, which greatly contributes to the city’s small-town atmosphere. The Recreation and Parks Department of White Plains maintains 76 acres of active parks, 23 acres of nature areas, and 8 recreations sites at various schools. The Department provides the residents of White Plains with sports and athletic programs, classes, summer camps, special events and activities throughout the year.

White Plains’ thriving urban center surrounded by quiet suburban neighborhoods allows for full-spectrum living. And for those wanting to relocate to White Plains, the real estate market offers no less than a full-spectrum of housing options. Real estate in White Plains includes older homes as well as new construction, with lots still available for custom homes. Condominiums and lofts in downtown White Plains typically cost anywhere from $500,000 to well over $1 million, but once you move away from downtown, there are units available for as low as $80,000. Single family homes in White Plains range in style from turn of the century Colonial and Victorian-style homes to new homes that are traditional with modern flair, and typically cost between the low $300,000s and $8 million for the most expansive luxury estates. Overall, the city and its real estate market has something for everyone, making it easier than ever to find your new dream home in White Plains, NY.
