Welcome to Netcong, NJThe community of Netcong, NJ is a borough located on Lake Musconetcong in Morris County, New Jersey, approximately 44 miles northwest of New York City. Once referred to as South Stanhope, Netcong was formed from parts of Mt. Olive and Roxbury Townships and incorporated as early as 1894. At that time, the borough recorded a population of 877 people, and thrived as the last stop on the Delaware-Lackawanna & Western Railroad. Despite a disastrous fire in 1903 that devastated its business district, Netcong expanded with the addition of the Citizens National Bank, a new Borough Hall, and of course, the Netcong Fire Department. Throughout the 20th century, Netcong became a popular summer vacation spot for people living in New Jersey’s more urban locales.
