Welcome to North St. Paul, MNNorth St. Paul is a city located ten miles northeast of St. Paul, MN and ten miles west of the River St. Croix and Wisconsin state line. Founded in 1870 by Henry A. Castle, North St. Paul was originally named Castle Site until the community incorporated as a village and adopted its present name in 1887. Castle, inspired by the serenity of nearby Silver Lake, imagined a well-balanced city of peaceful residential areas and shady tree-lined streets mixed with prosperous commerce and industry—a description that remains true of North St. Paul today.
North St. Paul currently has a population of approximately 12,000 people and boasts an expanding business district, comfortable, well-established neighborhoods, and a tight-knit community that enjoys an abundance of Minneapolis-St. Paul attractions, shopping, and restaurants right within reach. North St. Paul has many public parks and recreation areas, plus two beautiful lakes—Silver Lake and Casey Lake—perfect for boating, fishing, and swimming. There are over 15 community organizations within the city that sponsor year-round events, such as the Friday Night History Cruz and Historical Society Ice Cream Social, Crazy Days and holiday celebrations. One of the city’s icons featured in many off-the-beaten-path travel guides is the 44 ft. tall World’s Largest Stucco Snowman, built in the 70’s as an extension of the North St. Paul Jaycees annual Sno-Daze snowman.
