About Delaware, Ohio

Delaware, Ohio is a small college town, home to Ohio Wesleyan University and Central Ohio Symphony Orchestra, and is the county seat of Delaware County. Wall Street Journal once ranked Delaware 14th out of the 20 fastest-growing, wealthiest and most educated areas of the country. Delaware, Ohio housing includes two-story, historic and modern style homes, that generally range from $16,000 to $180,000. Residents enjoy plenty of recreational activities, golf, biking and athletic leagues. Delaware State Park features boating, swimming and a wildlife area, near the Alum Creek Lake and Alum Creek State Park. Through the Delaware County Cultural Arts Center, residents can take classes in dance, painting and crafts. Attractions include the popular “Little Brown Jug Race,” drawing 75,000 visitors annually to Delaware. A Hot-Air Balloon Festival is held every year at the Delaware County Fairgrounds. Perkins Observatory, built in the late 1800s, is another attraction and is just south of Delaware on Highway 23. There's one daily newspaper here— Delaware Gazette, which is the oldest family-owned newspaper in the country.
