Evendale, Ohio- A Great Place to Live and Work

Once an Indian hunting and burial ground, Evendale, Ohio was settled in 1789. Today, it’s a site for many businesses, including General Electric. Evendale’s daytime Population: soars up to 10,400. There’s a good selection of middle- and upper-middle-income housing, making it a popular choice for GE employees and others who work in northern Cincinnati. Residents enjoy a beautiful community pool and public education from two of the area’s best school districts (Sycamore and Princeton). Montessori Center for Lifelong Learning, opened in 1982, is here. It’s near Sharon Woods, which has a golf course, lakes for fishing, and grounds for picnicking and hiking. It is home to St. Rita School for the Deaf, established in 1915, and site of St. Rita Fest, which draws thousands of people. There are plans to revitalize the Reading Road corridor and also provide support to the 100-acre Gorman Heritage Farm (a working educational farm), which Evendale acquired from Cincinnati Nature Center. The farm was originally part of the 640 acres owned by James Cunningham, Evendale’s first settler. Evendale holds a Fine Arts Day (May 2–5) in the community room of the Evendale Recreation Center featuring original works of artists.
