Living in Greenhills, OH

Established in the 1930s, Greenhills, Ohio was one of the greenbelt communities planned to provide affordable housing for families with moderate income. Modest single family homes, row houses and duplexes line the looping streets, which were designed to encourage neighborhood interaction. Designated a “Tree City” by National Arbor Day Foundation, Greenhills is surrounded by parkland and trees. The 2,600-acre Winton Woods Park, which abuts Greenhills, offers playgrounds, nature trails, camping, a golf course and a horseback-riding center. There is a community center, a shopping strip and a 9- hole, par-3 executive golf course. There are plans to reinvigorate both commercial and residential developments in the community. Developer Potterhill Homes has constructed Dewitt Landing, which consists of eight large homes (five of which have been sold). The village wants more housing built for working families, but would like them to blend with the unique “greenbelt” style of the neighborhood. There are currently 1,650 homes in Greenhills. Riley’s Greenhills Restaurant, popular with families, is here; as is Molloy’s on the Green, formerly a country club and now a banquet center.
