Living in Mariemont, OH

The village of Mariemont, OH was established in 1923 and named Mariemont in honor of the founder Mary Emery’s summer home in Newport, Rhode Island. Its mayor, Dan Policastro, says the “village residents form the heart and spirit of Mariemont.” The village square is the center of the community’s business district, where many residents do their shopping, banking and dining. Best Western Mariemont Inn, a quaint English- style inn, due for renovation, is located at the square; as is the Mariemont Theater, which offers first-run movies. The only village with an elected town crier, Mariemont is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Mariemont schools are among the best in the area—its School district: has the distinct honor of receiving Excellent Rating since the state started giving out State Report Cards. Housing consists of single- and two- family structures, townhouses, apartments, and soon some condominiums. The Greiwe Development Group is building 27 condos, priced from $435,000 and up and designed to match the Tudor Revival style of the square. This $17-million Jordan Park development will definitely add to the housing options here.
