Welcome to Cleveland, OH

The city of Cleveland is located in northeastern Ohio, on the southern shore of Lake Erie. Founded in 1796, Cleveland quickly became a center for manufacturing due to its close proximity to the lake and Cuyahoga River, and that it was at the crossing of many railroad lines. In response to the decline of domestic manufacturing in the late 20th century, Cleveland’s economy switched over into the service industries, particularly financial, insurance and healthcare. Many large companies have their headquarters in Cleveland, such as Eaton Corporation, Progressive Auto Insurance, National City Corporation, Forest City Enterprises, KeyCorp, and the Sherwin Williams Company.

The city of Cleveland has recently released a visionary statement referred to as the Connecting Cleveland 2020 Citywide Plan—a visionary statement outlining the city’s strategy to improve, build and reconstruct for a better future. The city’s primary objective is to create a stronger sense of community in the city, “not only to build houses, but to build neighborhoods—vibrant neighborhoods.”

Now is a good time to buy a home in Cleveland. The real estate market is wide open, and no matter what you are looking for, Cleveland has it. For example, if you are looking for an effortless, urban lifestyle, there are many new condominiums in downtown Cleveland, such as the luxury Stonebridge development located on the West Bank of the Flats. These beautiful homes offer gorgeous views of the city, of Cuyahoga River and Lake Erie. And for that uber-industrial atmosphere, Cleveland’s downtown area also offers loft-style condos in converted warehouses that are known for their open floor plans.

If living in the city’s center isn’t your style and you are more interested in a single family home, Cleveland has a wide variety of neighborhoods that offer anything from historic to newly constructed homes. Some of the neighborhoods that are well-known for their beautiful Victorian renovations are Tremont Neighborhood and Ohio City. The communities of Slavic Village and Shaker Square both celebrate the city’s diverse history, and are attractive to many homebuyers because of their collection of classic homes--historic as well as new--trendy shops and markets.

These are just a few of the many neighborhoods you have to choose from when looking for homes in Cleveland. A city that is always evolving, and reforming with the prosperity of its residents in mind, Cleveland is an excellent choice for relocation. When you relocate to Cleveland, you are not only making a move, you are investing in your future.
