The community of North College Hill, Ohio, was originally called Clovernook, laid out by Robert Cary in 1814. This town was named North College Hill in 1916, it was incorporated as a city in 1941. It is home to the Clovernook Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired, which employs 140 people at its location on Hamilton Avenue (and at factories in Dayton, OH, and Memphis, TN). Clovernook is the world’s third-largest producer of Braille magazines and books. NCH maintains its own public school system and has three public elementary schools and a junior/senior high school. There are athletic fields, a pool and parks, including Dumele Park, which features basketball courts, a slide monorail and monkey bars and swings. There’s an 18-hole course at Clovernook Country Club. Memorial Day is a community event celebrated with a parade. In 2007, it was listed one of three most affordable housing in the area by Money magazine.
