Living in Norwood, OH

Hamilton County’s second-largest city of Norwood, OH is home to a diverse business base—a mix of industrial, retail, commercial and service. Some of the big companies located in Norwood include U.S. Playing Card, U.S. Bank, United Dairy Farmers (UDF), Convergys and Siemens Energy & Automation (Siemens is expanding and redesigning its motor manufacturing facility). The business incubator Hamilton County Business Center is here. Norwood offers affordable, older, traditional-style homes; business and office development; and a central shopping and dining district. Linden Pointe on Norwood Lateral and Montgomery is a mixed-use development that includes offices, retail space and restaurants. Scheduled to open in fall 2008 is Rookwood Pointe on Edwards Road and Interstate 71. This $10-million medical building will have 25,000 square feet of space. Surrey Square Mall, in the heart of Norwood, is being redeveloped to make it appealing and draw new businesses (it will include a new Kroger). Low property taxes, low crime rates, nine city parks, cinema multiplexes and strong city services add to Norwood’s appeal. Norwood is home to Drake Planetarium located in the Norwood High School. A K–12 Catholic school, Immaculate Conception Academy, is here. Rookwood Pavilion and Rookwood Commons provide upscale shopping. Norwood began in 1888.
