Residing in Pleasant Ridge, OH

Once an agricultural community, Pleasant Ridge, Ohio evolved into a country retreat for wealthier, mansion-building industrialists. It was established in 1795 and incorporated as a village in 1891. In the 1880s, Pleasant Ridge became a residential community when farmland was divided into small subdivisions. Today, it remains primarily residential, with plenty of well-maintained Cape Cods, newer brick homes, colonials and Tudors on quiet, tree lined streets—many still lit with gas lamps. There are neighborhood clubs, block parties and various church activities here. The business district on Montgomery Road offers shops, pubs and restaurants, including Pleasant Ridge Chili (open till 4:30 a.m. six days a week) and Molly Malone’s Irish Pub. Community events include Christmas Tree Lighting and Luminaria held in December. A new $20.4-million, Montessori school, PreK–6, is being built by Cincinnati Public Schools, scheduled to be completed in fall 2008.
