The Established Neighborhood of Westwood, OHThe older neighborhood of Westwood, OH is where generations of families live close to one another. Procter & Gamble co-founder James Gamble made Westwood his home, as did other wealthy industrialists. Elegant mansions sit alongside mostly Tudor and traditional-style brick and frame homes with wide-front porches. Brodbeck Park is a $5-million housing development of 24 new homes and was the site of the 2007 Citirama along Fox Cove Court (13 showcased at the Eighth Annual Citirama). Attractions include nearby golfing, Mt. Airy Forest and an active community center. The Westwood Town Hall, the city’s center, offers community programs—from dance classes to drama club. There are family events such as our Lady of Lourdes Festival, with booths and rides. Within its borders are Oskamp Park and Ryan Park, which feature soccer and baseball fields. Westwood is convenient to downtown via I-74 or I-75 or by public transportation. There are plans for parking lot expansion in Westwood business district and renovation of apartments on Harrison Avenue. Westwood is part of the Neighborhood Enhancement Program recently launched by city manager Milton Dohoney to concentrate on improvement and bring city staff and neighborhood leaders for 90 days to focus and integrate services.
