The neighborhood of Raleigh Hills is located just six miles southwest of Portland’s city center. Founded in the late 19th century and named after one its prominent residents—Raleigh Robinson—Raleigh Hills is one of the city’s most charming and well-established residential areas, featuring tree-lined streets and older homes that defy the common “cookie cutter” suburban style. Boasting a population of approximately 6,000 people, Raleigh Hills is desirable for its convenient location and short commute between downtown Portland and the city of Beaverton, which shares the neighborhood’s western border. Although Raleigh Hills lies within Portland’s city limits, it is served by the Beaverton School District—the third largest in the state. The local elementary school is Raleigh Hills Elementary for grades K-8, and high school students attend Beaverton High School. There are also several private schools to choose from, such as the French American School, St. Mary of the Valley Grade School, or Jesuit High School.
