Hershey, PA - The Town That Chocolate Built

Hershey, PA has long been known as the “town that chocolate built.” Centrally located, just a short drive from the state capitol and Lancaster County (the heart of Amish country), the town grew from Milton S. Hershey’s desire to provide a pleasant and thriving community for the workers of his chocolate factory. His plan included houses, schools, churches, recreational facilities, parks, and a trolley system as part of its infrastructure. From that original concept, Hershey has grown to be world renown as the home of Hershey’s famous chocolate bar and Hershey kisses. A popular tourist destination, the town has successfully retained its original charm while expanding to become a mecca for headliner concerts, professional sporting events and Broadway plays.

Local businesses such as the Hershey Medical Center, the Hershey Company, Hershey Entertainment and Resorts and the Commonwealth of PA have helped contribute to the stability of Hershey’s real estate market. Home values range from the low $100,000s to over 1,000,000 depending on the size, location and amenities of the property. The median price range is approximately $330,000 with home styles ranging from traditional townhomes with no exterior maintenance, to single family homes with varying lot sizes.

The town is known for its many attractions including Hersheypark, Hershey’s Chocolate World, Hershey Gardens, Zoo America, the Hershey Story Museum, Hersheypark stadium and the Giant Center—home of the Calder Cup winning Hershey Bears. Residents enjoy top-rated golf courses, lavish spa treatments, symphony music, historic trolley tours and an eclectic collection of restaurants and shopping—all within the heart of Chocolatetown.

Beautifully picturesque, Hershey is within easy commuting distance of Harrisburg, Lancaster and Lebanon, with the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Harrisburg International Airport just minutes away.
