Welcome to Ephrata, PA

The borough of Ephrata is centrally located in beautiful northern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Situated between Philadelphia and Hershey (Chocolate Town USA), just off of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Ephrata residents have easy access to Harrisburg, New York, Baltimore and Washington while remaining a friendly, family-oriented community.

A largely agricultural area, the rolling hills and picturesque farmland in Amish Country attract many thousands of visitors each year. Ephrata is home to the largest street fair in Pennsylvania held every September to celebrate the harvest.

Founded in the early 1700’s by German Conrad Beissel, Ephrata’s many historic buildings and sites reveal a glimpse into the past. The Ephrata Cloister and restored downtown Main Theater date back to a different century, blending the old with the new.

A progressive community, Ephrata offers the finest in health care at Ephrata Community Hospital. Numerous parks, a recreation center, and community pool support a growing concern about healthy living. Public and private schools offer quality educational choices to local residents in addition to the many colleges and universities located within Lancaster County including Franklin &Marshall College, Millersville University, Elizabethtown College, Lancaster Bible College, Stevens School of Technology, Pennsylvania School of Art and Design, Pennsylvania Academy of Music and Lancaster Theological Seminary.

Come visit Ephrata and learn why it is a great place to live, learn, work and play.
