Living in Hazleton, PA

The Greater Hazleton Area is located in southern Luzerne County, at the Intersection of Route 80 and Route 81. Just west of the Pocono Mountains, it is just a 1 ½ hour drive to Philadelphia or New York City. This region of Northeastern PA combines a charming small town environment, traditional values and all the modern conveniences.

The J.J. Ferrara Center of the Performing Arts brings the Philharmonic, Broadway shows, opera, ballet and concert venues to Northeastern Pennsylvania. Eckley Miners Village is a museum which portrays daily life in a Coal Mining town which includes a Company Store, Doctors Office and the workers dwellings.

A short 20 mile drive and you can take advantage of some of the sporting and cultural events the Wilkes Barre Area has to offer such as W-B Scranton Penguins Ice Hockey, the farm team of the Pittsburgh Penguins, or the AAA Yankees baseball team. The Wachovia Arena venues such as concerts and sporting events as well as trying your luck at the two new casinos Mohegan Sun Casino in Wilkes Barre or the Mt. Airy Casino and resort in the Poconos.

Cultural opportunities are enhanced by the 6 local colleges and universities, as well as three junior colleges, two college preparatory schools and school districts with well respected high schools, plus private as well as parochial schools.
