Welcome to the City of Plymouth, MN

When you hear someone talking about the number one place to live in Minnesota, what are your first thoughts? Close to the cities? Near water? Great school systems? Cultural and music events? Medical facilities? Numerous outdoor activities?

Then you are describing the award that Plymouth, MN received in 2008 as the number 1 best place to live! Yes that’ right…..Twenty minutes from downtown Minneapolis, Plymouth is a great place to live and easily located from either Highway 55 or Hwy 494.

Those that love outdoor activities will love the recreation that Plymouth has to offer…..Many beautiful parks and trails. In addition, Plymouth is close to Lake Minnetonka, but also has several lakes for a great day of relaxing….The largest lake in Plymouth is Medicine Lake. Other lakes located in Plymouth include Schmidt, Mooney, Bass, Gleason Hadley, and Parkers Lakes. Plymouth focuses a lot of emphasis in protecting the streams and wetlands due to the prominence of these lakes.

One of the fabulous events of the year is Music in Plymouth! What a cultural extravaganza! The Minnesota Orchestra is usually featured with several smaller bands and all kinds of great music. This is a “don’t miss” evening of music, fireworks, eateries and community fun! Usually held right before the 4th of July, this sensational celebration is held at the Hilde Performance Center—an open-air stage located just behind the City offices.

Plymouth has two school systems—Wayzata school and the Robbinsdale school districts. In addition, several private schools are located in Plymouth including Primrose Academy, West Lutheran High School, and Providence Academy. Many medical facilities are located in Plymouth including West Heath and Park Nicollet.

Some favorite eateries to check out include Latuffs Pizzeria—one of the best pizzas, Cowboy Jacks Saloon, Jakes—great food and great menu, and Truffles and Tortes…incredible desserts!

Plymouth is truly a great place to live!
