Welcome to Rancho Mirage, CA
The city of Rancho Mirage is located in the heart of California’s beautiful Palm Springs Valley, just 120 miles southeast of Los Angeles and 125 miles north of San Diego. Although the city is just now celebrating its 35th anniversary since its incorporation, Rancho Mirage has been steadily growing as a residential and commercial community since the 1940’s and 50’s. With the addition of several major world-class resorts, such as Marriott’s Rancho Las Palmas, Westin Mission Hills, and the Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage has become one of the most desirable California destinations. The city currently boasts a population of over 17,000 people year-round and over 30,000 people during the winter months.
Residents of Rancho Mirage enjoy an abundance of Palm Springs Valley attractions and recreation, from high-class shopping and dining to rugged outdoor fun. The region has a vibrant arts community that supports many galleries, museums, and performance arts venues, such as the must-see Palm Springs Art Museum, featuring local and international artwork and photography, and the McCallum Theatre of Palm Desert, which hosts a wide variety of classical and pop performers. Also, the Rancho Mirage Parks and Recreation Commission sponsors the annual arts celebration “Art Affaire,” and the Rancho Mirage Cultural Commission arranges many music, art, and theatre events throughout the year.
Perhaps what inspires such creative wealth in Rancho Mirage is the region’s gorgeous natural landscape. With the Santa Rosa Mountains to the south and the snow-capped San Jacinto range to the west, Rancho Mirage offers a mild climate and spectacular scenery—a literal playground for those who love the great outdoors. From hiking and bicycling to tennis and golfing in Rancho Mirage, there is an outdoor activity for everyone. Highly acclaimed Rancho Mirage golf courses—played by Hollywood celebrities, resident champions, and Sunday putters alike—include the Mission Hills North (Gary Player Signature Course), the Rancho Las Palmas Country Club (Ted Robinson Course), the Rancho Mirage Country Club, and the Westin Missions Hills Resort (Pete Dyes Course). Rancho Mirage is also located conveniently near the Salton Sea lake, the largest lake in the state, which is home to the Salton Sea State Recreation Area and the Salton Sea Wildlife Refuge. Salton Sea recreation includes boating, birding, camping, and fishing—a perfect weekend outing for the whole family.
