Welcome to Reisterstown, MD

Reisterstown, located just northwest of the city of Baltimore in Baltimore County, was founded in 1758 by a German immigrant named John Reister. Today, this quaint suburb’s rich history is recognized by the inclusion of its historic district in the National Register of Historic Places.

Reisterstown real estate owners number just over 23,000. Many are attracted to the town because of it family-friendly atmosphere and emphasis on learning. Reisterstown’s public library, dating back to the 1820s, originally served as the county’s first high school. Since then, the town has added five elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school, in addition to three private schools. Many of Reisterstown’s youths also participate in the wide variety of sports offered by the Reisterstown Recreation Council, while further recreational opportunities are offered at the town’s 79-acre regional park and golf center.
