Welcome to Rock Hill, SC

Rock Hill is one of the fastest growing cities in the Charlotte, N.C. region. It is a twenty minute drive from downtown Charlotte and offers all the benefits of suburban lifestyle. There is a home for everyone in this town of about 60,000. One quality of Rock Hill that makes it such a desirable destination for young families is its commitment to education. The Rock Hill School District is one of the finest in the state. In 2001, Northwestern High School was given the prestigious Palmetto's Finest Award. Winthrop University is a medium-size and growing school that is located in the center of Rock Hill. A drive down Oakland Avenue reminds one of being in a small college town.

One of Rock Hill's greatest assets is its mild climate. Perhaps you would like to play eighteen holes on a championship course. Waterford Golf Course was designed by three time U.S. Open champion Hale Irwin. Conveniently located just a few miles from Lake Wylie, Rock Hill offers all the activities an avid water sportsman could desire. Rock Hill has a rich history with many unique traditions as well. Springtime is beautiful in the Piedmont, and the annual Come-See-Me Festival has drawn a large local, and even international crowd in the past few years. Enjoy the heritage of the area at the Museum of York County, just a fifteen mile drive from downtown Rock Hill.

The Manchester area in eastern Rock Hill has dramatically expanded in the last few years. The area is home to a movie theatre, several shopping centers, and a brand new soccer complex with synthetic turf. Rock Hill has a world-class parks and recreation department. Cherry Park has five softball fields and Hargett Park has four baseball fields. Cherry Park has hosted the National Softball Association's World Series twice in the last ten years. If you are a fan of college sports, feel free to come out and support the Winthrop Eagles. Winthrop's baseball and basketball teams were nationally ranked in 2007.
