About Darlington County, SC

The county of Darlington was formed in 1785, and is located in the northeastern part of South Carolina. This area was settled in the mid-eighteenth century by Welsh, Scotch-Irish, and English farmers, who grew cotton primarily. Darlington, suggested to be named for the Revolutionary War Colonel Darlington is a center for tobacco farming. More recently, Darlington is notorious for the Darlington Raceway, a speedway that is home to an annual NASCAR Southern 500 race. Darlington is also the site of the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) Hall of Fame.

Together with offering a diverse economy, strong industry, tourism and agriculture, the county has a vast array of educational resources. From elementary schools to specialty arts and science schools, Darlington County has the essentials for your children to succeed and also provide the business community with valuable future employees.
