Welcome to York, South Carolina

Serving as the county seat for a great county calls for excellence, and the city of York is up to the task. The distinct tree line leading into downtown York gives the city its appealing look. Downtown York is very quiet and quaint, but don't let this give you the wrong impression. York is a vibrant and growing community and a great place to live and work.

Located in the western part of York County, York is about the same distance from Interstate 77 as it is from Interstate 85. This means trips to Charlotte or Greenville are quite feasible. The western part of York County has beautiful rolling hills. The York School District has a great reputation for excellence in sports in addition to academic achievement. Living in York means being a part of a special community that richly values its history.

Each year York holds an event called Summerfest toward the end of August. It typically attracts over 50,000 visitors each year. The festival was voted the most outstanding event in the state for a community the size of York. The attractions of Summerfest include golf tournaments, art competitions, and a moonlight bike ride. Once a year people from all over the area discover the beauty of York, which can be yours forever.
