Recreation in Salisbury, PA

In addition to shopping and dining, arts and theater, Somerset County and the Laurel Highlands region also offers many opportunities for outdoor recreation; amidst the gorgeous scenery of the Allegheny Mountains, Salisbury residents can enjoy everything from hiking and horseback riding to hunting and fishing. Ohiopyle State Park and the Youghiogheny River Gorge are located just 40 miles west of Salisbury, and offer some of the best whitewater rafting in the Eastern United States. Somerset County is also home to a stretch of the Great Allegheny Passage—a smooth cycling, walking, and jogging path that takes you through the scenic Laurel Highlands countryside and three of the County’s unique historic communities, Confluence, Rockwood, and Meyersdale. During the winter months, Salisbury residents also have great access to Laurel Highlands ski destinations, such as the Seven Springs Mountain Resort, the Hidden Valley Four Seasons Resort, and the Laurel Mountain Ski Resort. Seven Springs and Hidden Valley also feature two breathtaking Laurel Highlands golf courses.
