Welcome to Whitfield Estates, FloridaWhitfield Estates, Florida, also known as a “dream city” to local residents, was officially established in 1926, though extravagant plans for it had been stipulated long before that. Although named for the distinguished and high-profile Florida citizen who funded most of the development, Louis Broughton Whitfield, the area was the idea of Edgar Price, E. S. Delaplane, and D. Greenwood Haley as well. The original concept was initiated in the early 1920s by these visionaries who dreamt of and succeeded in creating a unique neighborhood within Manatee and Sarasota counties. Today, the area maintains this prestige, along with one of the most eminent golf courses in the state of Florida, Sara Bay Country Club. The course was designed by the famous golf course architect Donald Ross, alongside the celebrated golfer Bobby Jones, and opened its doors to the public in late 1925. The town continued to gone through major development over the next couple of years, and now represents one of the most classic areas of Sarasota to live in. | More Local Area InformationThe jewel of Florida’s Gulf Coast, Sarasota is a vibrant and dynamic area known for its rich history, culture and award-winning beaches.
