Welcome to Spotsylvania, VASpotsylvania is a county in the state of Virginia, located approximately 61 miles south of Washington DC and 54 miles north of Richmond. Boasting a population of over 90,000 people, Spotsylvania is considered part of the Washington DC metropolitan area due to the high number of residents that commute to the capitol using Interstate 95 or the Virginia Railway Express. The county seat lies in the historic district of Spotsylvania Courthouse, which was once a strategic location during the American Civil War. Other key communities within Spotsylvania County include Chancellorsville, Massaponax, Four Mile Fork, and Fredericksburg, although Fredericksburg is politically independent.
