3. The Nashville Sound- a combination of storytelling honky-tonk and the smoother sound of the big swing bands with a bit of jazz thrown in. Artists famous for this sound were Patsy Cline, George Jones, Eddy Arnold, and Tammy Wynette.
4. Outlaw Country-country joins rock n roll with artists Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, HanK Williams Jr. and Charley Pride, Charlie Daniels.
5. New traditionalists-artists merge the old traditional sounds of bluegrass and storytelling honky tonk with the new edgier sound to keep County Music one of the most popular forms of music in America.
