Manufacturing plants make up the fame and the economy of Smyrna, Tennessee. But for the most part, Smyrna is a bedroom community where many people who work in Nashville love commuting to and from. Smyrna has a successful school system with plenty of teachers to balance things out. It was the former home of the Stewart Air Force Base which closed, almost spelling catastrophe for the city until corporations like Square D and most importantly, Nissan began using the area for industrial plants. The town also has its own golf course which provides recreation and enjoyment for Smyrna's residents and people in neighboring communities.
