Welcome to Bryan, Texas

Bryan began as a railroad shipping depot the transport of people, cotton, and other commerce on the ever expanding Texas rail system and became incorporated as a city in 1872. As agricultural commerce grew with the immigration of large numbers of Czech, German and Italian immigrants and oil and gas exploration and production expanded, so did the downtown district and the surrounding community of Bryan.

Bryan, Texas was one first cities to receive a $10,000.00 endowment from philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, Bryan founded its first library the Carnegie Library in 1902 and is the oldest existing Carnegie Library in the state. Bryan also offers a new educational facility for Blinn College with an enrollment of approximately 10,000 students.

Today Bryan has a robust economy based upon traditional agricultural commerce, oil and gas production, as well as banking, retail, and medical facilities. Bryan offers quality schools, great shopping, safe neighborhoods and quality healthcare.
