Fort Worth is known by many names, “Cowtown,” “Panther City,” “the City where the West Begins,” and perhaps the most familiar to travelers… the last half of “DFW Airport.” However many of these names don’t do justice to what has become one of the best small cities in Texas, if not America. There is a nice mix of leading edge technology, Fortune 500 Companies, education and infrastructure, sprinkled with the charm of older neighborhoods and a dazzling array of community and civic events. In fact one term that has become synonymous with Fort Worth is “Cowboys and Culture.” We like to think of this as simply black tie and boots…and yes that is appropriate attire for many of our wonderful functions.
Fort Worth embraces its Wild West heritage as a stop on the famous Chisholm Trail cattle drive, familiar to many from the movie “Lonesome Dove.” Today you can experience an authentic cattle drive, in person, with cowboys and longhorn steers being driven right up the street daily in our Historic Stockyards.
What is deceptive about this picture is that Fort Worth is also a leading technology and employment center, and a top destination for entertainment. The pro-business environment, highly educated and skilled workforce, affordable cost of living, and a multitude of entertainment and recreational opportunities has landed Fort Worth numerous accolades such as “Most Livable City” by Forbes magazine, and “one of the Top 5 Healthiest Housing Markets in the Country” by Builder magazine, February 2009.
Top that with a vibrant, rejuvenated, Sundance Square in one of the hottest Downtown districts in the country, several world class museums, NASCAR and Indy racing at Texas Motor Speedway, the Dallas Cowboys (whose new stadium is closer to Fort Worth than Dallas!) the Texas Rangers, the Stars Stanley Cup champions, a couple of back to back PGA tournaments, numerous lakes, marinas, and rivers, and you have a recipe for a darn good time. Fort Worth is also home to the 17,000 acre Alliance Texas, encompassing the first ever Industrial Airport, and the Global Logistics Center that was named the nations largest Foreign Trade Zone for the second year in a row.
Fort Worth is truly a study of contrasts, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s real, it’s live, and it’s right here! Come see what makes Fort Worth so special, and get a taste of our legendary hospitality!
