Welcome to Frisco, TX

Frisco is currently home to approximately 75,000 people. Much of its growth has occurred in the past 20 years; in fact, the city population was only 6,100 in 1990, putting Frisco’s growth rate at 400%. Because of this, Frisco has earned the nickname “Texas’ Rising Star.” There are many reasons why Texans and non-Texans alike are flocking to Frisco; namely, its world-class shopping and dining, active sports teams and venues, outdoor recreation, education, and family-friendly communities and neighborhoods. Frisco is home to the Stonebriar Centre, providing some of the best shopping in the Southwest. Along with several major chain stores, Frisco also boasts one of the only two IKEA stores in Texas. For unique shopping and dining with local flair, downtown Frisco offers quaint shops, boutiques and restaurants along Main Street.

For sports lovers, there are four professional sports teams in the city, including the Frisco RoughRiders baseball, FC Dallas soccer, Texas Tornado amateur hockey, and Frisco Thunder Intense Football League, giving Frisconians ample opportunity to get rowdy in a number of state-of-the-art sporting facilities. Residents of Frisco enjoy the region’s pleasing climate with winter temps that rarely go below 40 degrees, and summer temps that rarely go above 90 degrees Fahrenheit, making the city a great place for outdoor fun. From golf to swimming, there are a variety of ways to get active in Frisco; there are eight public parks within the city, as well as trails for walking, running, and biking. Lake Lewisville is nearby with opportunities for boating, jet skiing and fishing. Even rock climbers of all ages and skill levels can get their practice in at the Canyons at Frisco, a climbing gym located near the FC Dallas soccer stadium.

The Frisco Independent School District (FISD) contains over 25 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, and 4 high schools, with several more schools in construction to be opened by 2009. Over 80% of Frisco schools have achieved “Exemplary” or “Recognized” status according to the 2007 Texas Education Association. For this reason, Frisco has attracted many growing families who care about their communities and homes. The city has a sparkling reputation for its peaceful neighborhoods, minimal crime, and well-kept homes and yards.
