Welcome to Sugar Land, TX

The largest city in the Fort Bend County area of Metro Houston, the home to the most master planned communities in Fort Bend county, (the most in the nation), and even recently named the “fittest city in the country,” Sugar Land, TX is the third-largest city in population and second-largest in economic activities of the Houston area. Sugar Land is also the headquarters of numerous energy, software, engineering and product firms, colleges and universities, boasts some of the best recreation, shopping, and is one of the safest places in the country to live. A city with a rich history of plantations, and forever tied to the Imperial Sugar Company, the vestiges of that appear all around town, and many of the communities were founded by the corporations that still make their home in the area. The incredible growth in population of the area is driven by its continued job growth, (more than 46% from 2000 to 2007). People move to Sugar Land because jobs are plentiful, style of life is unparalleled, and property values continue their steady increase. Sugar Land like most of the Houston Metro market, has not experienced the extreme downturn as in many other areas of the country, and is one of the most affordable places in the USA to live, not only because housing remains affordable, but the total cost of living remains low.

What is it that most people don’t know about Sugar Land?

Sugar Land has been featured in numerous movies, TV, and other media. The Sugar Land Express (1974 movie), and the current country music duo Sugar Land have a song out about what it is like to live in Sugar Land.
