Welcome to Tempe, AZ
Tempe is situated directly in the middle of Maricopa County, an ideal location which is neighbored by Scottsdale, Mesa, Chandler, and Phoenix. There are many different elements that make up its dynamic atmosphere, including a blend of business centers, resort communities, residential neighborhoods, and a small-town college community.
Some of Arizona’s largest employers are located in Tempe including Motorola, Honeywell, and Medtronic Microelectronics, helping to keep Tempe’s economy alive and thriving. The neighborhoods throughout Tempe are also comprised of a variety of different styles of homes. These include turn-of-the-century adobe houses, luxury compounds with acreage and horse privileges, and apartments that are perfect for the college student.
Tempe is home to Arizona State University. ASU was established in 1885 and today has four campuses state wide. ASU is one of the premiere research universities in the nation. Many of the research efforts are in the studies of humanities, social and natural sciences, visual and performing arts and technology, as well as professional programs including law, architecture, and business.
The Arizona State University Sun Devils attract many sports fans year round. The Tempe Diablo Stadium is also the spring training home for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Throughout the year, Tempe also hosts events such as the Ironman Triathlon, the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour, and October Fest.
Downtown Tempe offers cultural activities, unique shops, and several great restaurants and bars. More than two million people visit the two and a half mile Tempe Town Lake each year regularly, which offers paddle boats and walking paths for entertainment and leisure.
