In 1968, Salem, VA officially gained the status of becoming its own independent city. Located in Roanoke County, situated along side the Roanoke River and nestled between the Alleghany and Blue Ridge Mountains, the city of Salem offers breathtaking views of Virginia’s beauty in its most natural state.
