Violet Bank is a one-story clapboard house and was home to General Robert E. Lee’s headquarters in 1864 from June to September. The building was named due to the thousands of Violets that grew under the Oak Trees of an adjacent hill. Swift Creek Mill yet another historic site in the town, and is believed to be the oldest gristmill, where grain is made to flour, in the country. This mill provides family entertainment options such as an authentic meal or theater show from the era. Colonial Heights also boasts five city parks that provide picnic shelter, campgrounds, fishing, boat docks and sports fields.
