Fort Lee is a military haven with a population of over 7,000 military residents and their families. Located in the tri-cities are of the state, and about twenty miles southeast of Richmond, Fort Lee is a convenient and friendly place to raise a family. Fort Lee itself is named for General Robert E. Lee, and is home to the United States Army Post. Fort Lee boasts five command stations, and is responsible for more than 225 million of civilian and military payroll entering into the local economy. A recent realignment closure will bring seven more major Army units to the area, boasting the economy even more!
Along with being the home to the base, Fort Lee hosts two museums. The US Army Women’s Museum features a gift shop, memorial garden and a learning center for adults and children alike. A number of other perks in the area include theaters, great restaurants and family parks and shopping opportunities.
Fort Lee is rapidly gaining importance within its surrounding communities and throughout the state of Virginia.
