Pleasant, beautiful and convenient are only a few of many adjectives that describe the wonderful town of Sandston, V.A. With a small community feel and a population of only about 3,200, Sandston residents find themselves well situated to big city amenities. Richmond International Airport and the city of Richmond are only a few miles away, giving Sandston residents options for easy travel for business or leisure, with an airport that serves almost 3 million travelers a year!
The Sandston community dates back to the early 20th century, when the Oliver Sands investment group purchased military housing from the government that were then sold as suburban homes. These surplus military residences served as homes for Richmond professionals who enjoyed getting away from the big city and spending time with their family. Sandston is still a mainly residential town, with independent commercial development by second-and-third generation Sandston residents. The Founder’s Club of Sandston shows off the great community environment of the city, and is a group made of people who moved to the area before 1939!
Sandston offers terrific schools including Seven Pines Elementary, a seven-building, campus style school on thirteen acres. Rooted in Civil War history, Sandston offers historic sites such as the land where the 1862 Battle of Seven Pines was fought, with over 1,000 soldiers killed and buried in the Seven Pines National Cemetery.
With its small-town feel and easy access to beautiful Richmond, Sandston is quickly becoming an extremely desirable place for business professionals and growing families. Come and enjoy all the great features of this great community!
