Located 35 miles west of Charlottesville; Waynesboro, Virginia is a hub of activity. Numerous shopping, dining and entertainment venues can be found and are easily accessed from outlying communities via Interstates 64 and 81.
The arts are celebrated and patronized in Waynesboro, which is home to a multitude of galleries including the Artisan’s Center of Virginia and Shenandoah Valley Art Center. Nationally known painter Patricia Buckley Moss is a driving force in Waynesboro, as her art museum and children’s foundation “Moss Foundation for Children’s Education” is based there. Each October, the Virginia Fall Foliage Festival Art Show takes place in the streets of Waynesboro, drawing thousands to view the work of over 250 artists from 14 states.
Residents and visitors describe Waynesboro as a beautiful yet convenient community with plenty of shopping and dining opportunities. There are over 40 restaurants in addition to a number of major big box stores (Kohl’s, Target, Home Depot, etc.). Speaking of beauty, Waynesboro is often referred to as the “Valley”, meaning Shenandoah Valley with the Blue Ridge serving as a backdrop to the east. Living in a close proximity to the Blue Ridge Mountains affords a number of outdoor activity opportunities including hiking, camping and biking. Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway are also nearby, allowing travelers to experience the vastness of the Blue Ridge literally from their front seat. Part of the Appalachian Trail, running in it’s entirety from Maine to Georgia can be found 5 miles outside of Waynesboro as well.
